Information for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in working at Hendersonville Community Co-op!  We are a member-owned consumer co-op and a part of a national network of co-ops.  A co-op is a business which belongs to the people who use it.  America’s first successful cooperative was formed by Benjamin Franklin.  Today, more than 100 million Americans participate in cooperatives.  The central values of cooperatives are democracy, equality, self-help, responsibility, and solidarity.

We look for reliable staff that are:
Customer service oriented
Knowledgeable or interested in learning about natural foods
Able to take responsibility for their duties and work areas

Where can I find out what positions the co-op is hiring for?
We post any opening beside the front door where the applications are located. We will also have an ad in the newspaper and will post the job on our website.

What if there are no open positions, can I still apply?
We accept applications even when we are not currently hiring and will keep them for a minimum of 90 days.

What happens after I apply?
1) Applications are reviewed by Human Resources.
2) If there is an open position, selected candidates who match the job requirements will be contacted for an interview.
3) After all interviews have been conducted, the manager hiring for the open position will choose who will be hired.

Can I talk to the manager who is hiring for the position?
Out of respect for the workload of our managers, we allow only those who are selected for an interview to speak with the hiring manager about the open position.

Who can I speak with if I have additional questions?
You may contact Human Resources if you have any additional questions about our hiring process; however, specific information about an opening (such as rate of pay) may not be available prior to an interview.  Also, speaking with Human Resources will not affect whether or not your application is selected for an interview; applications are selected based on qualifications, previous employment history, and availability.
